Starring the veteran cast of Bob Odenkirk, Martin Freeman, and Billy Bob Thornton. Tolman was praised for her performance in the role of Minnesota Police officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair stated that Tolman had "calmly certainly stole the entire show". Critics' Choice Television Award Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries. Tolman's appearance in the film The Mindy Project as romantic novelist Abby Berman for two episodes that premiered on the same day. In 2015, she played an supporting role in Michael Dougherty's comedy-horror film Krampus. Tolman turned down several character roles as supporting actors such as best friends, spouses, and mothers after her breakthrough role on Fargo. She was looking for an unusual role. Tolman was cast on ABC's Downward Dog based off the Animal Media Group webseries. The show lasted for one year. Tolman played in ABC's Emergence drama that debuted on the 24th of September, 2019, however it was pulled by ABC following one year of airing at the 21st of May in 2020 even though Tolman tweeting she thought the ratings were "pretty good".
